McNerney. Join Rose on a Magic Vine journey based on Nancy
Page designs from the 1930s, updated by Eleanor Burns for
“Quilt in A Day.”
Learn several modern techniques
for quick turn appliqué, raw edge appliqué and scalloped
borders. You may choose from several setting options. This
block-of-the-month class will begin on Monday, September 22,
6-9 pm, and will meet once a month on the fourth Monday.

Quilting ~What
I wish I had learned a long time ago~
Do you want to learn to
quilt? This class has been designed for those of you who
work all day and need to spend time with your families on
weekends. We will meet with Cynthia Deveraux on the second
Thursday of the month from 6-9 pm and will cover all of the
basics of piecing and quilting. Each month we will make at
least one block in class, starting with the simple 4-patch
block, working up to the more difficult curves and appliqué.
At the end we will put them all together and show you how to
finish your quilt. This class can be entered at any time.
Book required. $ 7.50 per session.

Sampler
is still going strong. Due
to the sampler style of the blocks, the class may be joined
at any time, so some of you new quilters should check out
the class and see if it is something you would like to do.

Not your Grandmother’s
Strip Club!
Cynthia
Deveraux and staff. This
fun and unusual class has been meeting on the fourth
Tuesday of each month. Different projects have included
patterns and fabrics for Jelly Rolls, Sweet 16s , half-yard
cuts and Charm Packs. Although we have pre-cut fabrics, you
may want to make your own Jelly Rolls and use up your stash!
We have been exchanging 2½” strips at each class with the
idea of making a Log Cabin quilt next year.
The
“A” Team ~
Our
hand
appliqué
club with Jackie Bath continues
on
the fourth Tuesday of each month from 1 to 3 pm. Jackie is
the leader but we also have a lot of participants with new
ideas; and limited time, so some of us are still working on
last year’s project. Many of these beautiful projects will
be displayed at the Fall Open House
We
have scheduled two
UFO Amnesty Nights
on September 26th and November 21st, from 5:30 pm
‘til the last one gives up. We’re ordering pizza, so bring a
favorite side dish to share along with your UFOs and let’s
get them finished! Who knows? You may want to exchange UFOs
with someone else. Be
sure to sign up in advance as space is limited to 14. Class Schedule
Rotary Basics 101 Rose
McNerney Learn basic rotary cutting and piecing
skills. You will have a 36” square wall hanging when
finished. This popular one-day class is offered several
times throughout the year and is limited to six
participants. Please note: This is a one-day class offered
on three different days for your convenience. You will only
need to sign up for one of these classes. Dates:

Rotary Basics 202 Rose
McNerney Bring your finished top back for the
popular follow-up to Rotary Basics 101 and you will learn to
sandwich together, quilt, and bind your wall hanging. Date: Thursday,

Stack and Whack by the Slice
Rose
McNerney Since so many of you have wanted this
class to be taught again, and You want something
that is new and different, here’s a different twist on
Stack~n~Whack.
This pattern is from Bethany
Reynolds’ book Magic Quilts by the Slice. It is possible for
you to finish the top in one day. Date: Saturday,

Spiral Bargello Alice
Kay Arnett Make a 27” x 44” (before borders) table
runner or wall hanging and have your friends wonder how you
did it. This is a stunning project that uses eight fat
quarters of fabrics ranging from one color into another or
ranging from light to dark. You will soon be addicted as you
see unusual color combinations. To save class time, students
need to have some cutting and sewing done before class. Date: Saturday,

Cynthia Deveraux Tuck your cell phone or iPod in the
pocket of this little charmer, add a dash of cash and off
you go! Just three fat quarters and a scrap of batting are
all you’ll need. You may become addicted to these and make
them for everyone on your Christmas list. Date: Saturday,

Mystery and Pumpkin Pie Kathleen Bertoncelj Come join the fun of
being in the dark about what you’re making! Inspector
Bertoncelj is all revved up to lead you in another adventure
in the world of mystery quilting.

tell you about this class…except that it will be lots of

The X- Blocks
Cynthia Deveraux In this class you will make either
“Pocketful of Posies” or ”Baby Bloomers.” These are simple
but stunning quilts that are constructed in the same way.
You’ll be amazed at what you can make from a simple 9-patch.
The size of the ruler determines the size of the quilt.
Learn how to use this ruler to your advantage in other
quilts as well.
Tote on the Go Nancy
Pieper This bag is great
for classes and retreats. It has several large pockets,
including one that will hold your 18” x 24” cutting mat and
your 6½” x 24 ½ ” ruler (adaptable to
8½” wide, if desired). The roomy
interior will hold all you need, even your sewing machine’s
extension table and it includes a removable zippered bag for
scissors, cutters, etc. Date: Saturday,

Bridge Creek Blossoms
Cynthia Deveraux Be one of the first
people ever to make this simple but beautiful quilt.
This original design by Terry
Atkinson is fresh off the press. The sample was made at
Terry’s Color Camp in July.
The majority of the quilt is
made of 2½” strips.

Machine Quilting 101 Rose
McNerney Learn about sandwiching, battings,
needles, threads, and the basics of machine quilting. You
will be doing straight-line machine quilting with a walking
foot and will have an introduction to free motion machine
quilting.

Hand Quilting Jill
Zimmermann This afternoon class is designed for
those who want to learn how to hand quilt, but can’t manage
a full-day class. You will learn the bare basics of needles,
thimbles, threads, and battings and will learn to mark,
layer, and baste. There will be less time devoted to
practice, but if this fits your schedule, Jill would love to
help you learn to hand quilt. Dates: Saturday, November 8
Indian Summer Nancy
Pieper This 46” x 46” quilt
is from the book “The Melon Block.”
You may piece the center of the
block to make it appear to have multiple leaves, if you
wish. The curves of the melon block are gentle, so don’t be
intimidated by them.

Cynthia Deveraux Your special child
or grandchild will love learning the alphabet using the raw
or finished edge appliqué method taught in this class. There
is no fusible appliqué in this quilt. Letters may be traced
or photocopied on Carol Doak’s foundation paper. These are
two more of Terry Atkinson’s new patterns and are sure to be
crowd pleasers. Option:
make The Name Game instead of
the full alphabet. Date:
