 | 19th Century Textile Scholars
During the monthly meetings, you will receive sample packets of fabric, information about c.1790-1910 textiles by decade, keep an ongoing notebook of handouts, have access to several personal quilt research libraries available for loan, enjoy guest speakers and have the opportunity to join us on several field trips. We will make and swap blocks with other members to complete four quilts during the year. Fabric choice including color, value and print size along with other strict guidelines will apply.

| Basic Machine Quilting
This class is for the novice machine quilter. Straight-line quilting using your walking foot and free-motion quilting using your darning foot will be taught and practiced.

 | Beginner's Piecing Class
This is for the very beginner quilter. Join this four afternoons class and learn the basics of rotary cutting, accurate piecing, and pressing. You will end with a nice finished project top in a choice of two sizes. Mary Corcoran has designed the pattern used and teaches extensively to all levels of quilters. The classroom will available for quilters to stay and work until 5:30 pm the days of classes.

 | Curio
This 72" x 80" quilt looks much more difficult than it is. The circular and star point effect is all achieved with triangles using the super-easy 60* Kaleidoscope Ruler. You will cut some of your fabric before coming to class so that you are prepared to learn the helpful ruler. You will also assemble many of the blocks during class, with little work to be finished at home. Samantha Ewers completed the sample quilt using the Basic Grey by Moda line of fabric available at QuiltEssentials. For her in-class demonstrations, she will be using batik fabrics from QE.

The sample for this small (33"x33") quilt is made from two of our new batik charm packs. Even though the pattern is designed for 5" squares, the supply hand-out will include optional cutting instructions for using other fabric. This top can be completed during class time if participants come with fabric cut beforehand.

| Embellish It! (After)
The fun doesn't have to stop just because your quilting is done. Whether your top has turned out a little bland or you just want to play, there are lots of embellishments that can be added after the quilting: beads, buttons, embroidery floss, yarns, and crystals.
You can register for just this afternoon class, or sign up for the Embelish It Before! being held earlier the same day and receive a $15 discount on the two classes.

There are so many different ways to embellish a quilt top. Let's start with those things you do before you quilt your project: paint sticks, inks, stamps, stencils and foil. come in the morning for just this class, or come back after lunch for Embelish It After!  | Skill Builders
This is a three to four-part class that will help the beginning or intermediate quilter learn and improve their quilting skills and technique. Picking Your Palette Class is a REQUIRED prerequisite. Plan to sign up and take it on January 14 if you haven't already had it at QuiltEssentials. The first two sessions of Skill Builders will be all day Saturday sessions that will REQUIRE cutting HOMEWORK before the class sessions. In these first two sessions, the students will sew in class to make an array of sample blocks to build and enhance their quilting skills and techniques in various areas. The final Saturday class will be a half day. Students will sew their blocks together, choose a setting option, and put their quilt top together.

This beautiful Block-of-the-Month will be led by Samantha Ewers and meets on the fourth Thursday for six months beginning in February. The completed sample is already on display in the shop. To use fabric more efficiently and to keeps costs low, these kits will be complete at the first meeting. Details TBA.

In response to requests for a holiday-themed Block-of-the-Month, Kathleen Bertoncelj is offering this snowman sampler. It will meet 1-2 pm on second Tuesdays from February through October. Monthly kit and pricing details TBA.

 | Morris Meadows Arts and Crafts Sampler
Join Carolyn Abernathy in this applique club appropriate for either machine fusible applique or hand applique. This club will begin in February and meet the first Wednesday of the each month for nine months from 2-4pm. Carolyn will demonstrate the block, discuss applique methods, answer questions and open the floor for show and tell. There will be time to work on blocks during class. The one time fee of $150 includes the fabric for the quilt top, the pattern and club instruction.
